people always forget [or more likely never learn] that prohibition was a movement by women in an attempt to curb male violence

My professor explained that dictionaries were created by the elites to differentiate themselves from people of low status. All I could think of was people who argue the definition of racism and cite the dictionary.
More wrinkle cream is sold to women who feel old, more diet pills to women who feel fat and more douches to women who feel dirty…
If we stop hating ourselves, they’ll lose billions."
Enough with your anti “white privilege” blogs, you can go back to chomping on your bananas and worshipping me now.
i usually try not to reblog nonsense in the racism, sexism, or privilege tags because i dont want the nonsense on my own blog. but this person said.. chomping your bananas. this person tagged this post apes and gorillas. this person is a terrible.. hateful human being. and i figured you should know.
Dear Every White Moderate who thinks that “tumblr SJ goes too far”, or think “Racism is bad, but your response to racism is WORSE”, who says that “People would listen to you if you were NICER”, everyone who works so hard to silence people of color and bury their pain under the rhetoric of erasure:
THIS OP IS THE SIDE YOU ARE ON.
THIS IS THE KIND OF SHIT YOU’RE AGREEING WITH.
THIS IS WHAT YOU’RE SUPPORTING.
THIS OP IS YOUR ALLY.
STOP FUCKING FOOLING YOURSELF INTO THINKING THAT YOU ARE SOME KIND OF “MODERATE”
here’s what Martin Luther King, Jr. had to say about you:
[over the past few years i have been gravely disappointed in the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice. -Martin Luther King, Jr., “Letter From Birmingham City Jail” (1963)]
instead of talking about whether or not men “can” or “cannot” be feminists, let’s talk about how many men are shitty feminists, or use feminism as a cover for abusive behavior, or wield its buzzwords and concepts to earn credibility in certain communities and social circles, or how fucking quickly feminist practice goes out the window when these men are questioned or their presence is deemed unwanted.
Gahhh this is a real problem
I’m like ‘the Tea Party is racist’ and my friend is like ‘Kamau, you can’t call the Tea Party racist. They’re not all racist.’ And I was like, you know what, I don’t need the Tea Party to be 100% racist for me to feel perfectly fine calling them racist. I don’t need 100% racism in the group. It could be way less than 100%. 10% is plenty for me. If the Tea Party is 10% racist I feel comfortable labeling the whole group racist.
Let me explain how that works. If I offer you a shake, a milkshake. I say ‘would you like a milkshake?’ You go “yeah, sure I’d like a milkshake.” I go, ‘okay, here you go, but just so you know it’s 10% shit.’
Oh, now you suddenly you understand how it works. 10% is kinda a lot ain’t it. You go ‘uh oh, that’s too much shit in my shake."
Sexist jokes are not funny.
Racist jokes are not funny.
Jokes about eating disorders are not funny.
Jokes objectifying women are not funny.
And its not “butthurt” or “pissy” to say so. Its the truth. If you are making light of something that has systematically ruined lives, its not funny, especially for the people who have to live it every day.
