At the school I have been studying Baking and Pastry Arts at, we were asked to make a bread sculpture in our advanced bread course.
(Bread sculptures are made with what is called ‘dead dough’. Basically, it is a standard bread dough, just lacking in yeast, so it doesn’t rise, and wouldn’t really taste good.)
Because I am a geek, when I was given the opportunity to do anything I wanted, I chose a Dalek. :D
The Dalek isn’t perfect - far from it. But dead dough can be difficult to work with, and Daleks are, as I found out, not the easiest thing to mould. But I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I wanted to challenge myself, and I definitely did. :)
Some of these may be in the wrong category. Some may need to be in another category! Do tell me (either through my ask box or reply) if I need to change or add something! Have fun looking through these accounts!
“Patriotism swells in the heart of the American bear.” -Fozzie
As I’m sure many of you have seen, Fox News has recently accused the Muppets of brainwashing children, creating class warfare, and being a tool of the ultra liberal left. The Muppets are apparently responsible for Occupy Wall Street, the promotion of evil numbers (well, except for the ONLY good number, which is the number 5) and likely have a hand in the rise in food stamp usage under President Obama.
Now as an avid Muppet lover for the last 30 years, I have long known that the Muppets have an agenda. Politics are indicative of the moral fiber of a society, and the Muppets are all about preaching their morality. I can say, without question, that I have been indoctrinated with Muppet Morality. I will even come clean, and admit to each and every agenda item that the Muppets have brainwashed me into believing.
1) “SOMEDAY YOU’LL FIND IT: THE RAINBOW CONNECTION”
The Muppets teach children to believe there is a mystical bond between all human beings, whatever color, gender, choices or preferred lifestyle they may have. Pigs and Frogs can fall in love. Weirdos can find a family of friends who will accept them for who they are. Best friends can be really different and still live together, and grouches have a heart, even if it is hard for them to admit it. Even the heroes and villains of a story can come from the same source, and all aspects of a person are important. We all might have different beliefs, but this world is just made up of a bunch of lovers, dreamers, and me.
2) “I’VE GOT A DREAM TOO. BUT IT’S ABOUT SINGING AND DANCING AND MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY. THAT’S THE KIND OF DREAM THAT GETS BETTER THE MORE PEOPLE YOU SHARE IT WITH. AND WELL, I’VE FOUND A WHOLE BUNCH OF FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME DREAM. AND IT KIND OF MAKES US LIKE A FAMILY.”
Liberal Muppet propaganda would have us believe that the happiness of others should also be considered in pursuing our own happiness. And that loving connections between people are found by doing good together in this world. Finally, this is a blatant advertisement for singing, dancing, and happiness.
3) “IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN.”
I don’t know what it’s like to live in another person’s skin. It might not be that easy being green, and that might be something I want to take into consideration when interacting with and attempting to empathize with others. Kermit even goes on to say “I am green…it’s beautiful! And I think it’s what I want to be”. This is clearly brainwashing children into loving themselves even if they look or feel different than others.
4) “SING. SING A SONG. SING OUT LOUD; SING OUT STRONG. DON’T WORRY THAT IT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ANYONE ELSE TO HEAR. JUST SING.”
The Muppets are constantly pushing children to find their unique voice and use it. There is also the underlying message of utilizing your own judgment and finding pride in your personal accomplishments. To further push an agenda, this Sesame Street classic is often sung with SPANISH verses as well, and sometimes MANY, MANY LANGUAGES. What are we trying to say here? That everyone in the world has a voice and should express themselves and together we create a beautiful symphony of difference that we could hear if we care to stop and listen?
For the sake of brevity, I will just list below several other Muppet quotations that clearly outline the agenda they have been pushing on children for the past half century:
“OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS ONCE; LET’S REACH OUT AND GRAB IT.” -Fozzie & Kermit
“FACT IS THERE’S NOTHING, NOTHING YOU CAN’T DO.” -Floyd, Janice & the Electric Mayhem
“THERE AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN YOU CAN’T CLIMB
IF YOU HANG ON TIGHT AND JUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND
AND ONCE YOU SET YOUR HEART TO MOVIN’ ON
SON, THERE AIN’T NO ROAD TOO LONG.” -Waylon Jennings
“THERE’S NOT A WORD YET FOR OLD FRIENDS WHO JUST MET.” -Gonzo
“HEY. I TELL YOU WHAT IS. BIG CITY, HMM? LIVE. WORK, HUH? BUT. IS NOT CITY OPEN. ONLY IS PEOPLES. PEOPLES IS PEOPLES. NO IS BUILDINGS. IS TOMATOES, HUH? IS PEOPLES, IS DANCING, IS MUSIC, IS POTATOES. SO, PEOPLES IS PEOPLES. OKAY? “ -Pete
“I GUESS I WAS WRONG WHEN I SAID I DIDN’T PROMISE ANYONE ANYTHING. I PROMISED ME.” -Kermit
“LIFE’S A HAPPY SONG WHEN THERE’S SOMEONE BY YOUR SIDE TO SING ALONG.” -Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and the Muppets
5) “LIFE’S LIKE A MOVIE; WRITE YOUR OWN ENDING. KEEP BELIEVING, KEEP PRETENDING. WE’VE DONE JUST WHAT WE’VE SET OUT TO DO. THANKS TO THE LOVERS, THE DREAMERS, AND YOU!”
No, Muppets. Thank YOU. Thank you for brainwashing me into believing that life is beautiful, that people are good, that singing and dancing and laughing and loving and trying and wishing and hoping and believing are important. Thank you for countless hours of joy, and for the kind of weeping that happens when your heart sings too loudly. Thank you for my childhood, and for the adult that I have become. Thank you for teaching me the obvious truth that bad guys are the people who are anti-singing, dancing and being happy, and that you can often defeat them by doing the aforementioned in the face of any adversity. And long after they are done yelling, your beautiful songs will echo in the hearts and minds of children everywhere.
Important to remember when you think of saying to someone, “why can’t you just act normal?” Maybe they used up all their ability to act normal that day. Or, maybe, they’re just tired, tired, tired of spending all their enery to please you, instead of spending it on their own life.
This is why I never do anything with friends anymore, on weeknights or weekends. It’s far too much energy to go through my week and do classes and assignments and be fun and outgoing and smart. When I don’t have to do that, I just want to be alone and by myself, where it’s safe.
